A Note On 'Wild' Animals

This is NOT a pet.  She will NEVER be a pet.  Not only is it illegal under all circumstances to keep them as pets here, but I couldn't afford it.  She is a wild raccoon, and she climbs on our balcony, comes in, eats some cat food, has some water, goes out on the balcony again, hangs out a while grooming, uses the outside litter box, leaves.  She causes no problems.  I speak the language, and make 'coon noises at her.  She understands we mean her no ill, will tolerate her with no violence.  She prefers we are not in the kitchen when it's eating, but she will put up with us if we don't get too close.  She is a very considerate individual.  There is no problem with the cats, either.   They eat together on the feeding station table.  We don't like the animals eating off the floor.

If we treated them right, I think we could live with all creatures in peace.  We can start by leaving our first (second, third, forth, and fifth) born children out for the wolves and big cats during the harsher seasons.

Let's try to remember everything is equal, and to give the same consideration to other forms of life as you give to yourself when dealing with them prior to them being on your plate.  If you are so inclined and have enough love for the animal kingdom, you can learn to communicate with anything on a  basic level.  You can learn their language.  How else can you explain Kevin Richardson and the relationship between Stacy Westfall and Wizards Babydoll?

By the way, this all takes TIME.  You can't just go up to an animal and interact like this.  A bond has to be established first, and you can do it with anything and everything if your heart is in the right place, and of course if you can afford the right circumstances.  Yes, I know from personal experience.

Add on edit as I clean up my blog.  The raccoon only came up to eat for about a month, then she was gone.  I hope she's OK, and just found better foraging.
