Not too many people live there, but they are getting a ton of very noticeable earthquakes. Thing is, if you get a quake big enough, you might get some real interesting wave activity, Tsunami City, so despite the fact the place is getting hit, it might not be the ultimate target.
This is speculation, but we do have the technology. Google it!
