The loyalty, the love, the humour, the way they interact, everything. I've deciphered some of their language, and yes; they do have one. Two of the ferals. . .on older young male (still technically a kitten) has been acting as step-mom to a wee young kitten who lost his mother. They play all the time, and when the older kitten comes home from his daily escapes, the young one runs to him and jumps on him every day, evening, early morning, whenever he comes home. The wee little youngster only goes out back and is too insecure to wander the area yet, whilst the elder spends most of his time somewhere else, but when they're together they are inseparable. And the wee young one is still wild. He's on about his 7th week here, and runs whenever anyone gets too close to him. I'd hate to see what traumatised him so. I usually win over members of the feline purrsuasion much faster. I wonder how his mother was killed?
Or maybe I'd rather not know. I took in one dumped cat after he was tortured. Broken tail, stabbed in the face, had a diamond cut into his forehead. It was late fall. I grabbed him, and brought him in. He fought me, but I won. It was late fall, cold, and raining. He was also starving. He's still with us, got kind of plump, and he's one of the most loving cats I ever met. He's also a prankster. A cute, good sized tabby with some Siamese blood. I could write a book on cats, and it's like everything I ever read about them is wrong. Cats are as diverse as people, and do thing you'd never expect. Felines even come in militant feminist (You do NOT want to get here mad.) and Gothic dominatrix. They're also extremely intelligent, conniving and manipulative. One thing nice, they can be reasoned with if they see there's a justifiable reason for what you ask them to do or not do. It's not always their way or the highway. They will compromise if it's better for all involved.
