I gave up eating mammals a long time ago after reading excerpts from 'Slaughterhouse' by Gail Eisnitz. After knowing what the animals went through, I just couldn't handle it. I'm not a complete veg, though. Still eat chicken, and some seafood, though statistically quite a bit less than most, not that this absolves me. They treat chickens worst of all, too; so me bad. Chickens get no protections. Idiots have no idea what chickens are like. They can be good, lovable pets IF treated right. Pigs are really awesome individuals, if you get to know them. Very intelligent, and real sweet. Look it up.
Yes I know they taste good. Lamb, goat, mutton and pork were my favourite meats, but I didn't find it hard to give them up. I had no craving for it after I quit cold turkey.
Beef, I DEFINITELY didn't miss at all. Boring stuff. Was fed it or ate it voluntarily for most of my life, and it's the blandest crap that would be horrid without all the seasoning I used to put on it. The only thing I remember fondly was Rueben sandwiches.
